Business associate agreement
A BAA is expected, not an upgrade.
Any DispatchCare deployment that handles protected health information runs under a signed business associate agreement between the covered entity and VectorCare.
Who signs
The covered entity, typically the health system or the EMS agency acting as a covered entity, and VectorCare.
What it covers
Permitted uses and disclosures, safeguards, breach notification, subcontractor flow-down and return or destruction of data.
Network programs
Programs receiving missions are covered through their own agreements; PHI access is scoped to the missions they accept.
