What is online medical control?
Online medical control is real-time consultation with a physician or advanced practice clinician who authorizes care decisions during an EMS encounter.
In a treat-in-place or community paramedicine encounter, online medical control is the clinician who reviews the assessment and approves a disposition, remain home, clinic, alternate destination or transfer.
Recording who was consulted, when, and what was decided is what makes a remain-home disposition auditable.
