What is ruca codes?

Rural-Urban Commuting Area codes classify census tracts by population density and commuting patterns, and are used to define rurality in federal programs.

RUCA codes let a program report outcomes by rurality rather than by county alone, which matters when a single county contains both a small city and frontier territory.

Reporting cuts by RUCA, county and travel distance is how a program shows it reached the population the funding was meant for.
