What is mobile integrated healthcare (mih)?
Mobile integrated healthcare is a coordinated care model that delivers services in the home using EMS and partner clinicians, with community paramedicine as its most common component.
MIH describes the broader program model: a set of home-based services delivered by a team that may include paramedics, nurses, social workers, peer recovery specialists and telehealth clinicians, organized around a population rather than an emergency call.
In practice the terms MIH and CP are often used together, MIH-CP, with MIH naming the program and CP naming the practitioner and scope. Funders and state offices tend to prefer MIH; EMS agencies tend to say CP.
For coordination purposes the distinction rarely matters: both need structured referrals in, field status out, and outcome reporting to whoever funds the program.
